Why stay in

The best table in the city is the one you don't have to book

No arrangements

Almost no restaurant here seats fourteen well without weeks of notice, and most online systems stop at six or eight. At the house the table is already yours.

Nobody drives

No three cars there and three cars back. Dinner ends when it ends, and bed is upstairs.

One price

No bill to split fourteen ways at the end of the night, and drinks at supermarket prices instead of restaurant markup.

How it works

How a chef dinner works at the house

The Enterra team arranges it before you land. You tell us about the group, we come back with a menu and a price in writing.

  • Tell us the groupHow many, any allergies, the kids, and the dish someone still talks about from the last trip.
  • Pick the mealThe big dinner, a long lunch, or breakfast for everyone. Breakfast is the hardest meal to book out for fourteen, and the easiest one at home.
  • The chef shops and cooksIn the house kitchen. We confirm in writing whether ingredients are included.
  • Serve and clearThe chef serves and cleans up. You stay at the table.

What it costs

A chef isn't cheaper. It's worth it anyway.

You'll read online that a private chef costs less than eating out. For a mid-range restaurant, it doesn't. These are open-market figures for fourteen people, in pesos, checked in August 2026.

  • A third-party chef: about 10,600 a dinnerThe best-documented service in the city charges 758 pesos a head at thirteen people and up. That covers the menu, the shopping, the cooking, the serving and the cleaning up.
  • All in at the house: 13,700 to 15,200Add supermarket wine and beer and the chef's tip of ten to fifteen percent.
  • A mid-range dinner out: 8,700 to 11,900Food, two drinks each and a 15% tip in Roma or Condesa. So a chef runs roughly 20 to 50 percent more. At an upscale restaurant it flips, and the chef is clearly cheaper.

Plan the week

Chef at home or a table out? How to choose

Stay in when

It's the first night and everyone just landed at altitude. It's after a long morning at Teotihuacán. Or there are toasts, kids or grandparents at the table.

Go out when

It's lunch at Contramar, or the one restaurant someone came to Mexico City for. Book those early. Where to eat as a group.

Do both

Most groups we host do one chef dinner at the house and one long lunch out. It's the shape that keeps everyone happy.

Good to know

What groups ask us about a chef

Is a private chef cheaper than eating out?

Not against a mid-range restaurant. For fourteen people a chef at the house runs roughly 20 to 50 percent more. Against an upscale restaurant the chef is cheaper. What you buy is no booking, no cars and no bill to split.

Are ingredients included?

It depends on the chef. Platforms usually include the shopping; independents often bill it at cost. Our quotes say which, in writing, so there's no surprise on the final bill.

Can the chef cook around allergies and for kids?

Yes. Tell us when you ask for a quote and the menu is built around them.

Can we book breakfast or lunch instead of dinner?

Yes. Breakfast for fourteen is the hardest meal to book at a restaurant, so it's a good one to have at home. A long lunch on the rooftop or in the courtyard works too.

Do we need to buy anything?

No. Both houses have filtered tap water, and we can stock the fridge before you land so there's coffee and breakfast for the first morning.

Is there a chef at both houses?

Yes. Chef service, private yoga and massage run at either house. What differs is the setting: a rooftop in Roma Norte or a garden in La Condesa.
